Clergy Gather for Innovation at The Idea Lab

By: FUMF

On Wednesday, May 21, a dozen clergy from the Florida Annual Conference gathered at First United Methodist Church in Lakeland for The Idea Lab—a dynamic, hands-on workshop focused on innovation and implementation in ministry.

Hosted by the Florida United Methodist Foundation in partnership with Ministry Architects, The Idea Lab provided a collaborative environment where ministry leaders explored how to generate fresh ideas and turn them into actionable strategies that support thriving, sustainable ministries.

Healthy organizations don’t just come up with good ideas—they know how to recognize the right ones and bring them to life without exhausting their teams. This interactive session helped participants:

  1. Generate more (and better) ideas consistently
  2. Expand those ideas by learning from other fields
  3. Test and refine ideas before moving too far ahead
  4. Launch new initiatives strategically and sustainably

Clergy left the event energized and equipped with practical tools to spark innovation in their own contexts. As one attendee shared, “It wasn’t just about dreaming—it was about doing.”

By investing time in The Idea Lab, these leaders are not only strengthening their own ministries but also shaping a more creative, impactful future for the communities they serve. The Florida United Methodist Foundation remains committed to supporting and empower the growth of Christian ministry through the hosting of events like these!
