FUMF’s Commitment to Clergy Financial Health: Empowering Futures

By: Rev. Ed New

At the Florida United Methodist Foundation, we understand the unique financial challenges faced by our clergy. We are dedicated to ensuring that our clergy and their spouses are equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to build and maintain a healthy financial life. Through various initiatives and strategic partnerships, we provide comprehensive financial and retirement planning services to support our current and future clergy on their journey to financial well-being.

One of our cornerstone programs is the R-10 Retirement Planning Seminar. This annual event is designed for clergy and their spouses who are within 10 years of retirement. As an expanded version of our one-day spring workshop, the R-10 seminar covers a wide range of topics, including physical health, clergy taxes, Social Security, pension and benefits, financial planning, health insurance, housing issues, and estate planning. Attendees gain valuable insights from experienced professionals to help them anticipate their retirement income and stay financially healthy. The deadline to register for our September 9-11, 2024 event is Monday, August 26, 2024. Click here to learn more.

Building on the success of R-10, we are excited to introduce our upcoming Financial Readiness & Generosity Initiative gatherings. These sessions will provide additional resources and support to help our clergy develop strong financial strategies and cultivate a culture of generosity within their congregations.

To further enhance our offerings, we maintain a valuable partnership with CPS Investment Advisors. This partnership allows us to provide personalized financial and retirement planning services tailored to the unique needs of our clergy and their families. CPS brings together an extensive team of finance, tax, investment, and business experts, all working collaboratively to deliver comprehensive solutions. Their team includes individuals with advanced degrees in accounting, taxation, business, finance, and economics, as well as certified financial planners™ (CFP®) and certified public accountants (CPA). We strive to empower our clergy to achieve financial security and peace of mind by offering the creation of a financial plan forward at no cost. (Any additional services such as taxes, investments, etc., are the responsibility of the client.)

At the Florida United Methodist Foundation, we are committed to helping our clergy be well-prepared to navigate their financial futures with confidence and grace. Please reach out to us at foundation@fumf.org with any questions.
